Disabling auto update

/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/20auto-upgrades
APT::Periodic::Update-Package-Lists "0";
APT::Periodic::Unattended-Upgrade "0";

Package Management

Switching version of major packages

Use update-alternatives --config java 

Fixing broken packages

Sometime you will get an error like: E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. 

To solve, you can try installing aptitude  and trying aptitude install <package> 

The aptitude utility has more powerful conflict resolution abilities.

Listing installed packages

apt list --installed > installed.txt
